SINGAPORE, LONDON, 10 July 2024 – CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, has named the world’s top fintech companies for the second year as part of its ongoing collaboration with Statista, a leading global provider of market and consumer data.
From a pool of over 2,000 eligible companies, the list is categorized into eight different market segments: alternative finance, banking solutions, business process solutions, digital assets, financial planning, neobanking, payments and wealth management technology.
For the first time, the list also highlights a CNBC “Editor’s Pick” for each category that stands out for its relevance or interest to news coverage. Editor’s Picks include Airwallex in banking solutions, Robinhood in wealth management technology and Alipay in payments, among others.
Artificial intelligence is a common focus for many publicly traded fintechs, with several – such as Klarna and Mastercard – using the new technology to augment their existing offerings.
Of the top 250 companies, 116 are based in the US, reflecting the country’s continued dominance in the sector. The UK retains its position with the second-highest number of companies at 30, while India comes in third with 11 companies, up from seven last year.
Statista’s methodology involves analyzing and weighting general and segment-specific key performance indicators obtained from desk research and an open application process. These indicators were then converted into a scoring model to calculate a final score for each company and identify the best fintech companies for each market segment.
