Cigna Launches AI-Powered Virtual Assistant for Enhanced Member Support

Cigna has introduced a new AI-driven virtual assistant designed to enhance interaction for health insurance members. This innovative tool aims to streamline the way customers seek answers to their health coverage inquiries, significantly improving the user experience.

AI Virtual Assistant: More Than Just a Chatbot

Unlike traditional chatbots, Cigna’s AI interface delivers conversational and personalized responses to typical questions regarding health coverage, care options, and complaints. If users require further assistance, the virtual assistant seamlessly connects them to a customer service representative for additional help.

Positive Customer Reception

Initial findings indicate that a substantial 66% of customers who accessed the virtual assistant utilized it proactively, with over 80% reporting that they found it beneficial. This impressive feedback underscores the tool’s effectiveness in meeting customer needs.

Continuous Improvement Through Digital Features

Cigna is committed to enhancing its digital services, introducing a suite of new features developed through extensive research and testing within a robust AI governance framework. These advancements are gradually rolled out on the MyCigna members’ portal, allowing for an efficient user experience.

Personalized Provider Matching and Cost Monitoring

Among the new features is a personalized provider matching tool that provides a tailored list of network providers and care options. Additionally, a revamped cost monitoring tool estimates expenses with providers and specialists, giving members insights into their out-of-pocket costs and integrated billing.

Smart Claims Submission and Plan Selection Support

The system now includes intelligent claims submission, enabling customers to upload invoices from healthcare providers. The AI reads the invoices and auto-fills claim details while providing digital updates in straightforward language regarding the claim status and decisions. Customers with employer-sponsored health insurance can also leverage plan selection support, allowing them to compare prices and anticipate potential health costs when choosing their benefits package.

Commitment to Simplifying Healthcare Access

Cigna’s digital enhancements reflect the company’s dedication to improving healthcare accessibility for its members. Recent studies indicate that only 20% of American adults feel equipped to navigate health services proficiently, highlighting the need for intuitive tools and support systems.

Cigna’s initiatives, including an expanded network of personal champions and centralized agents to assist with administrative tasks, align with the company’s strategic goal of creating a more personalized, transparent, and connected healthcare experience. This comprehensive approach aims to empower customers, ultimately enhancing their overall health and wellbeing.
