Payjoy finds that the financing of smartphones allows you to work and financial stability for mothers working in Mexico

Since the beginning of the century, smartphones have reached an important step after another, innovators working constantly on new ways to make the most of the small devices that people take with them. The last to do so is PayjoyThe financial service provider with contempt for emerging markets, because it reveals how smartphones allow mothers who work in Mexico to have financial stability.

A new report launched by PayjoyTHE Unlock economic mobility: financing of smartphones and the rise of micro-entrepreneurs of the mother of Mexico Report, draws information from more than 1,100 mothers working in Mexico who received a Payjoy smartphone loan. He examines how access to smartphones has an impact on their work, family life and financial stability. Ninety-two percent of mothers working in Mexico have indicated that the financing of smartphones has released their ability to maintain their current job.

“Smartphones are more than devices – they are bridges towards financial inclusion for mothers who work from Mexico,” said Priscila BarranDirector of the Pays du Mexico de Payjoy. “From customer relations management to access to mobile payments and work platforms on concerts, smartphones transform the way women participate in the economy. It is not surprising that more than half (55%) point out that their income has increased because they now have access to a smartphone. »»

Discover the gap for participation in gender work

In Mexico, there is a sex of 32% in the participation of work, which means that working mothers not only find it difficult to find a job, but once they do it, you have to manage 40 hours per Week of unpaid care care and household tasks. The smartphones have, however, allowed many mothers who work to find a job, with 95% of those working outside the house crediting their property as a key facilitator for work.

In addition, 94% of mothers who work point out that smartphones help them work at home and effectively manage work remotely. The financing of smartphones allows them to balance national responsibilities with the revenue generation thanks to accessible mobile financial tools which support entrepreneurship, remote work and the management of micro-enterprises.

Prosper in the informal economy

Mexico labor is increasingly shaped by working micro-entrepreneurs who work, defined as mothers who balance care, household tasks and employment to complete family income. Many of these women participate in the informal economy – economic activities such as street sales, domestic work and concert work – occupying several jobs and micro -entrepreneurs looking for a better economic future for themselves and their families.

Sixty-five percent of Payjoy female customers in Mexico operate in this informal economy, with 75% of this group working over seven hours a day. An additional work of 24% more than 10 hours a day.

On Payjoy female customers interviewed, 67% are working mothers and 73% point out that their smartphones are extremely important for them.

Eighty-five percent of mothers point out that their phone allows them to balance the responsibilities of work and the house, stressing how the financing of smartphones takes care of micro-entrepreneurship and economic mobility. This ability to combine work and family tasks is essential to working mothers: 96% say that care and work capacity is just as important for them.

“We are committed to supporting women who are often overlooked by traditional financial services,” continued the barrants. “We believe that the real impact comes from everyone’s offer the possibility of accessing the tools that can make a significant difference in their lives.”
