Luxembourg Establishes Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Finance
The Luxembourg Ministry of Finance has launched an advisory committee dedicated to the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the finance sector. The inaugural meeting took place on January 16, 2026, marking a significant step towards integrating AI responsibly within financial services.
Purpose and Mission of the Advisory Council
The newly formed Advisory Council on AI in Finance comprises prominent leaders from both the international financial industry and academia. It aims to provide strategic advice to Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, on the development and deployment of AI technologies. The council’s mission focuses on enhancing Luxembourg’s competitiveness, resilience, and overall value creation for the economy and society.
Regular Meetings to Foster Innovation
The Advisory Council is designed to meet regularly, reinforcing Luxembourg’s ambition to remain a leading and innovative financial center. This ongoing dialogue will facilitate the sharing of insights and best practices, ensuring that AI is utilized to its full potential while addressing ethical considerations.

The Advisory Council is co-chaired by Minister Gilles Roth and Jean-Louis Schiltz, a distinguished lawyer at Court and a former Minister of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs. The council’s esteemed members include:

- Peter Zaffino, Chairman and CEO of American International Group, Inc. (AIG)
- Eric Xiandong Jing, Chairman of Ant Group
- Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO of Paytm
- Professor Alex “Sandy” Pentland, MIT Professor of Information Technology
- Professor David Shrier, AI and Innovation Expert at Imperial College London
