Airbnb Expands Services with New Car Pick-Up Feature
Airbnb has announced the expansion of its services feature, introducing a car pick-up option across 125 cities globally. This initiative is a collaboration with Welcome Pickups, a transportation company, enabling users to book private car services in popular destinations such as Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.
Successful Pilot Program Sets the Stage
Earlier this year, Airbnb piloted this service in select regions of Europe and Asia, where it reported high user engagement. The company noted that “thousands of guests” utilized the feature during the pilot, achieving an impressive average rating of 4.96. Once a user books a stay in a participating city, they can easily schedule a private cab via the Trips tab in the Airbnb app, where they can also view reservation details and make adjustments directly.
Enhancing the Travel Experience
Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s Chief Business Officer, emphasized that the goal of Airbnb Services is to enhance guests’ overall stay. He expressed confidence that the partnership with Welcome Pickups significantly contributes to this objective from the moment travelers arrive at their destination.
Plans for Further Expansion in Service Offerings
Airbnb is committed to extending this car service to more cities and locations throughout the year. The company launched its services category last summer, initially including ten service types ranging from personal chefs to spa treatments, thereby enhancing its portfolio of offerings for guests in eight countries.
Groceries on Demand Through Instacart Partnership
In November, Airbnb expanded its service offerings by partnering with Instacart, enabling guests to order groceries ahead of or during their stay in select U.S. cities. This collaboration is part of Airbnb’s strategy to ensure that users have everything they need to enjoy a seamless vacation experience.
A Comprehensive Approach to Service Integration
The introduction of the car pick-up feature aligns with Airbnb’s efforts to create a comprehensive suite of services for travelers. The company is also testing options for users to book hotel rooms, broadening its appeal to a wider range of preferences and needs.
Strong Growth Potential in Hotel Bookings
During the Q4 2025 earnings call, CEO Brian Chesky highlighted the substantial opportunity the hotel sector presents for Airbnb’s platform. He noted that accommodating various types of stays could significantly enhance the user experience, allowing travelers to fully integrate Airbnb into their travel plans.
