Introducing the Paynet Fintech Hub
The Malaysia Payment Network (Paynet), the operator of the National Payments Network, has launched the pioneering Paynet Fintech Hub. This community and accelerator program is specifically designed to nurture the growth of fintech startups in Malaysia.
Support for Fintech Startups
The Paynet Fintech Hub aims to support emerging fintech companies by providing access to vital resources, including funding opportunities, industry connections, and essential support services. In collaboration with over 45 strategic partners, the Hub facilitates connections to investors, banks, and technology firms.
Comprehensive Mentorship and Resources
Startups participating in the program will gain insights and support with over 450 hours of mentorship from experienced founders and industry experts. They will also have access to a wide array of financial resources, including more than 1 million RM in Paynet credits and 3 million RM in cloud credits from leading service providers.
Unique Community and Catalyst Program
The Hub encompasses two main components: a broader community for startups and a more selective “Catalyst” track. This selective approach is designed to assist fintech companies in enhancing their business models, optimizing marketing strategies, and minimizing cash flow challenges. While community startups will receive general support, those in the Catalyst program will engage in a 10-week accelerator, developed in partnership with Imperial College London.
Benefits of the Catalyst Program
Participants in the Catalyst track will experience personalized coaching from Imperial faculty, culminating in a demonstration day for potential investors and partners, as well as a week-long visit to London. Furthermore, the program, which is entirely funded by Paynet, grants access to cloud services through Amazon Web Services (AWS), supported by the AWS Asia Pacific (Malaysia) region.
Vision for the Future
Farhan Ahmad, CEO of the Paynet Group, emphasized the significance of the Fintech Hub: “The Paynet Fintech HUB is a unique and transformative initiative set to scale startups beyond the foundational stage. It tackles the main challenges faced by fintechs in Malaysia, with the expectation of substantially accelerating the growth of the sector.” This initiative aims to unite the fintech ecosystem in Malaysia, creating tangible, evolving results.
Conclusion
The launch of the Paynet Fintech Hub represents a significant milestone for Malaysia’s fintech landscape, providing critical resources and support for startups. With the backing of strategic partners and a commitment to innovation, this initiative promises to propel the growth of fintech in the region, ensuring a vibrant and competitive future.
