(Reuters)-Minor Bitcoin Bitcoin, based in Toronto, has enlisted two consultants to explore how he can transform some of his facilities to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence data centers, he said on Friday.
Why is it important
Cryptographic minors often have large plots of land and significant power resources – assets that are also crucial for high performance IT (HPC) and AI data centers.
To capitalize on AI boom, many minors have started to reuse parts of their operations in data centers, since they already have most of the infrastructure.
Critics of the approach, however, warn that change may not succeed because AI data centers are more sophisticated.
CONTEXT
Bitfarms said the consultants, the Appleby strategy group and global technology will analyze its North American sites.
They will also advise the company on its IT and AI strategy, while marketing sites to potential customers.
Earlier this month, Riot Platform launched a potential AI examination and computer uses for certain parts of its facilities in the county of Navarro, Texas.
