Until recently, retail investors did not have the opportunity to gain exposure to private companies. But now a fintech company is offering the opportunity to do just that by allowing individuals to invest in one of the hottest tech names before it goes public.
Do retail investors want exposure to private companies like SpaceX and OpenAI? According to recent data, the answer is a resounding yes.
SoFi Technologies (SOFI) a financial services platform, recently surveyed 5,000 retail investors and reported that more than 87% of them expressed a clear interest in investing in private companies.
The authors also found that when survey respondents were asked to provide a list of private companies they most wanted to invest in, they ranked SpaceX, OpenAI and popular video game producer Epic Games among the top three. first, indicating a clear desire to gain exposure to these popular companies.

Investors using SoFi can access these funds through Templum One, Templum’s global ecosystem that connects private and alternative market issuers with partners, giving investors access to sought-after private assets. Accredited investors can purchase funds in these funds, including the Cosmos Fund, which provides exposure to SpaceX, although they must meet criteria specified by SoFi.
