Groundley Secures €970,000 Seed Financing to Enhance Corporate Sustainability Monitoring
Danish fintech startup Groundley has successfully closed a seed financing round of €970,000. This funding will accelerate the company’s mission to revolutionize financial information and sustainability monitoring for large corporations.
Investment Contributions and Valuation
The funding round includes a loan from the EIFO (Danish Export and Investment Fund) and participation from new and existing investors, including Christian Dideriksen. This investment sets Groundley’s valuation at €4.6 million.
Founder Insights on the New Funding
CEO and co-founder Mads Zeidler expressed excitement about the investment: “With the closure of our financing round, we are thrilled to extend our product and assist more companies across northern Europe,” he shared with EU-Startups.
Innovative AI-Powered Platform
Founded in 2023 by Ahmad Sabah, Jeppe Jørgensen, and Mads Zeidler, Groundley has developed a sophisticated AI-driven platform designed to aid financial departments in large enterprises. The platform unlocks detailed insights on external expenditures, tracks emissions, and identifies economic opportunities across complex networks of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, legal entities, and languages.
Seamless ERP Integration for Enhanced Sustainability
What sets Groundley apart is its ability to integrate seamlessly with any ERP system, regardless of age or configuration. By extracting detailed invoice lines, it categorizes this data by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and automatically calculates a company’s carbon footprint. The platform also offers real-time sustainability and financial performance dashboards, providing users with immediate control and oversight.
Proven Value in the Field
Groundley’s tools have already been deployed by major companies, including one of Denmark’s largest maritime firms, demonstrating their practical value. The startup addresses limitations commonly found in traditional ERP systems, often lacking the depth to accurately track corporate expenditures.
Optimizing Financial Precision and ESG Goals
Groundley’s comprehensive three-part solution consists of the Spend Cube for procurement, emission data tracking for sustainability, and invoice control for accounting. This approach targets critical pain points related to supply chain management, sustainability compliance, and financial accuracy. According to internal data, clients can anticipate a cost savings of 2%, a reduction of 0.5 FTE in workload, and the complete elimination of invoicing discrepancies.
Future Aspirations
With the newly acquired capital, Groundley aims to enhance its operational capabilities, further develop its AI technology, and expand its presence in the European market. As companies continue to prioritize sustainability and financial efficiency, Groundley stands poised to lead the way in smart finance.
