ANNA Money Receives HMRC Approval for Income Tax Solutions
ANNA Money, the AI-driven business account and tax application, has officially been certified by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as an approved provider for Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax. This accreditation allows the fintech’s users to file their quarterly tax submissions directly to HMRC through ANNA’s intuitive and automated platform.
This certification arrives as the UK’s tax framework gears up for a significant transition. Beginning 6 April 2026, the MTD for Income Tax Self Assessment will be enforced for high earners making over £50,000. Under this new mandate, self-employed individuals, sole traders, freelancers, and landlords will be required to maintain digital records and submit tax information via compatible software on a quarterly basis.
This marks a substantial departure from the conventional annual filing system. As MTD requirements expand, businesses must be prepared to adapt their administrative processes to accommodate this new structure.
Introducing Auto Accountant to Simplify Compliance
To assist businesses in managing this transition and ensuring proper digital record-keeping, ANNA Money is rolling out “Auto Accountant.” This innovative tool is touted as the UK’s first agentic operating system designed to prepare and file tax returns for small businesses and sole traders, covering Corporation Tax, VAT, and MTD-complaint Self Assessments. Notably, the Auto Accountant will be offered free of charge for MTD Self Assessment, encompassing both quarterly and year-end filings for the 2026/27 tax year.
Crafted to streamline tax administration, ANNA’s platform utilizes artificial intelligence to automatically categorize transactions, maintain digital records, and prepare essential information required for quarterly MTD submissions once a customer is set up. According to the company, customers simply need to link their bank accounts, and the AI takes care of the rest. This approach ensures submissions are accurate, timely, and require minimal manual intervention.
Reactions from Industry Leaders
Eduard Panteleev, co-founder and co-CEO of ANNA Money, emphasized the importance of this certification. He remarked that HMRC’s approval represents a significant endorsement for ANNA Money and its services tailored to small business owners in the UK.
Panteleev acknowledged that many SME owners and sole traders may feel uncertain about the implications of MTD. However, ANNA aims to ensure that the complexities and costs associated with tax compliance do not hinder business growth. He expressed delight at being recognized as an approved provider in this rapidly evolving landscape.
