Fintech unicorn born in Australia Airwallex launched Airwallex Impact, a global social impact program backed by a 1% equity commitment, currently valued at over US$56 million.
This commitment ensures a sustainable source of funding as it grows in value with the company, aligning Airwallex with the Pledge 1% movement.
The company joins Atlassian, Canva, Salesforce, Airbnb, Okta and Reddit in dedicating resources to social causes with the 1% movement commitment,
Airwallex Impact will focus on offering scholarships, financial operations training and startup incubation programs.
The company will also expand its existing initiatives, such as Airwallex program for startupswhich provides resources and networking opportunities to over 2,000 startups worldwide.
To date, Airwallex has organized more than 50 events aimed at fostering startup success.
Additionally, Airwallex employees will dedicate three days per year to volunteer, lending their expertise to community service and mentoring programs.
Two of these days will be dedicated to serving in partnership with Airwallex Impact initiatives, while one day may be dedicated to any nonprofit organization of the employee’s choosing.
The company has already donated A$3 million to the University of Melbourne, funding 43 scholarships, of which 56% of the beneficiaries are international students.
An additional AU$150,000 grant provided financial assistance to 65 students. Airwallex has also provided grants and mentoring to early-stage startups, particularly in the AI and fintech sectors, and has been a volunteer mentor under the Australian Techstars incubator program.
In mid-2025, Airwallex will also roll out a program offering discounted products to select nonprofits.
